I created this series to explore the lives of everyday people living in our world. This could be someone living down the street from you or living on the other side of the world, but each and every life is important. They are valuable and worth knowing. Knowing is knowledge and we should all know the difference knowledge can make and create.
Knowledge can create the powerful difference between awareness versus ignorance and empathy versus apathy.
My first video series will help you begin to explore your world by exploring mine. I begin this series with stories from my childhood as a biracial child (Jamaican/Dutch) living in a primarily White, conservative, and Mormon area. I share my experiences being raised in a conservative, Christian church with a primarily White congregation. And among many other stories, I also discuss my life as a biracial, ballet dancer growing up and training in a primarily White ballet company. Most of the 'friends' I grew up with were (and continue to be) unaware of how vastly different their experiences were from mine. They also were (and continue to be) unaware of how vastly different their parents' and siblings' experiences were from the experiences of myself and my family.
So, take the time to listen to my story and try to take the time to Explore. Your. World around you. You never know what you might discover!
